Our Mission Statement

Let it be known to all, that the members of the Manchester Volunteer Fire department are bound together by the common desire to be of service of their community; the first and foremost in the hearts and minds of all members is the protection of life and property of any kind and of all their neighbors; and that they stand ready at all times of day or night in any kind of weather to respond to a call for assistance and aid; and let it be further known that this service shall be rendered to the best of their ability without any thoughts of personal gain.

Who is a Fireman?

He's the guy next door- a man's man with the memory of a little boy, never gotten over the excitement of the engines and sirens and dangers.  He's a guy like you and me with wants and worries and unfulfilled dreams.

Yet he stands taller than most of us.  He is a Fireman.  He puts it all on the line when the siren blows.  A fireman is at once the most fortunate and least fortunate of men.  He saves lives because he has seen too much death.  He's gentle because he has seen awesome power out of control.  He's responsive to a child's laughter because his arms have held small bodies that will never laugh again.

He appreciates the simplest of things- hot coffee, held in froze, unbending fingers- a warm bed for bones and muscles compelled beyond feeling- the camraderie of brave men- the divine peace of selfless service of a job well done for the good of all.  When he marches, it is to honor his comrades.  He doesn't have to preach the brotherhood of man;  He lives it.

The Brotherhood of Fire fighters

The brotherhood of firefighters is a special bond between members of a fire department. It is almost like the same bond between a brother or sister.

There are differences between members all the time but when the fire whistle blows all differences are put a side as if they are brothers with one purpose in mind. These firefighters only prepare themselves of helping their neighbors in a time of need.

These special men and women train many hours together to know exactly what the other will do plus to protect themselves and their fellow partner at any expense.

Thank You

Thanks for all your generous support. Without your support, regardless how you help us out financially, Chicken BBQs, fund raisers, fund drives or what ever else we are involved with, it makes our job a lot easier. When you hear the whistle blow you know that we are there to serve you without question. May we always continue to practice safety and fire prevention in what-ever we do.
